Sleep Disordered Breathing in Children

Sleep Disordered Breathing is a very common and serious problem found among children in the United States. It exhibits itself in a variety of symptoms and often goes untreated or misdiagnosed. An estimated nine out of ten children have Sleep Disordered Breathing

What is SDB?

Research over the past twenty plus year’s has looked at children who have crowded or crooked teeth, structurally inadequate palate or jaw structure and their sleep patterns. What they discovered is that these children had a surprising rate of issues such as ADD/ADHD, bed-wetting, breathing, behavioral and many other issues. The symptoms of Sleep Disordered Breathing can vary from one child to another but even the mildest symptoms can indicate serious underlying health issues.

Your child is in good hands

Dr. Busch and his team have received extensive advanced training in the field of Sleep Apnea and Sleep Disordered Breathing and are very in tune to the symptoms and issues associated with this disorder. Dr. Busch offers KoalaKidZzz, a solution that not only treats Sleep Disordered Breathing but also promotes optimal oral habits, proper facial development and airway. The KoalaKidZzz also results in straight teeth, likely eliminating the need for braces in the future.

Dr. Busch also offers the orthodontic/orthopedic HealthyStart™ appliance is BPA, Silicone / Latex Free and is FDA Cleared and American made. The HealthyStart™ treatment is safe, pain free, non-invasive and effective.

After a through exam Dr. Busch and his team will determine whether your child has Sleep Disordered Breathing and what treatment course would best fit their needs. As mentioned earlier it is imperative that treatment begins early, as a younger child’s body is more apt to adjust and mold, particularly the oral and bone structure, so call today for a consultation if you have any concerns about your child.
